I found PBR is a great sport instead of the NFL. NFL twist an ankle, on the bench for 6 weeks, 18 year old gets thrown and stomped by a bull : yeah, I think I’m going for a reride.

My years as a Paramedic taught me that PBR were the least likely to follow prudent medical advice, unless they had an open fracture. Unlike the NFL or NBA, if they don’t ride they have no chance of being paid.

Rugby is another one. I had a guy with an obvious dislocated shoulder come up and want me to set it. When I told he we were not allowed to do that, he twined his fingers in a nearby baseball backstop and did it himself. Another had an ankle with a 90 degree dislocation and impaired circulation. I was just thinking to myself, "S__t I'm going to try and set this myself." when a gal walks up and says I'm an orthopedic surgeon is there anything I can do to help? I told her to have at it, she said she worked at one of the big NYC hospitals and saw these a couple of times a week. She set it, and he wanted to have the trainer "tape it up," but the doc laid down the law and told him he needed to be seen and get x-rays, so he reluctantly went. I saw him the next day taped up and playing. Like PBR, anything short of an open fracture or uncontrolled hemorrhage, they kept going ... and I'm not 100% sure about the hemorrhage. The only guy that didn't give me a hard time about taking them to the hospital was unconscious.
