You're welcome. I feel especially bad for a child and family like in this situation.

That news about the Instagram scam is heartbreaking. It's so sad and scary to think about what some people will do to take advantage of others, especially kids. It’s a stark reminder of the dark side of the internet. I think as parents, it’s crucial to have open conversations with our kids about the potential dangers online. We should encourage them to speak up if they ever feel threatened or uncomfortable.
There are also resources out there that can help, like this site I found, https://digitalinvestigation.com/blackmail . They offer guidance and support for dealing with online threats and blackmail. We can't be with our kids 24/7, but we can equip them with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves. This way, they know they're not alone, and they have a plan if something goes wrong.

Children, in my opinion until they are old enough to drink and smoke, should not be on smart phones or any social media. The current discussion is 14 or 16 years old or so; in my opinion that’s just not enough protection. Until a child’s mind is developed enough to understand life enough and how it can harm them they shouldn’t be on this media. Of course, the media (who gives politicians mega $$$) will fight tooth and nail to prevent age restrictions the way we do with drinking and smoking because they make a lot of money off children. Restrictions until 21 or older are a no brainer in my opinion. I suppose I am a protective father and grandfather.
