Wondering if this little "gem", an “auto sear” the size of a thumbtack, is responsible for what we hear in the neighborhood . . . usually in a circumference, and not lasting more than a few minutes - indicating the route of the speeding vehicle(s) is around the gated community. Sometimes it's in the wee hours, other times after dark, some times during the day. Used to be followed by sirens not more than five minutes later. We never hear sirens anymore. People in the area no longer call about gunshots fired, because the police no longer show up. I guess local law enforcement is working from home - still - too. The youth, both boys and girls (who are not yet older teens) are at risk - really at risk.
Although, to their credit local law enforcement did get out and arrest a lot of people involved in a fentanyl ring - two years in a row. That the I-25 and I-40 intersection is located in, ABQ seems to have invited gangs and all their their nefarious "enterprises" since the 90s crackdown in Santa Ana CA which dispersed them. We don't wish the problem on other locations too, or instead, but the gangs also need to be dispersed from ABQ area. 40 years is enough. It's some other city's turn.

I have mixed feelings about prohibiting, by taxation, automatie long guns. Handguns ... not so much and illegal sales of parts to convert any firearm should be dealt with through "enhanced sentences." Better still, radical enforcement of all existing firearm laws would go a long way in stopping the anti-gun cries to simply ban firearms. As any sensible person knows, gun bans will only turn LAWFUL citizens into criminals when (not "if") they chose to ignore bans; especially on AR-15 and AK style long guns.
In short, criminals do NOT obey laws and banning lawful citizens only expands the pool of potential victims.

PV2 Larry Sellnow - What loophole? Here in PA, EVERYONE who legally obtains a firearm, goes through a background check. Everytime I purchase I fireamr, even though I have a Protection (carry) Permit, I go through a background check. It's the street deals that don't. Otherwise, the only (other LEGAL) transfer is between immediate family members.
Oh, and I can buy a long gun from my neighbor; BUT, it's also unlawful for a neighbor to selll me on that he obtained FOR me, i.e., a "straw purchase," and it's illegal for me to buy or otherwise accept it. But for any handgun, it has to be transferred THROUGH a licensed gun dealer. Handguns (illegally obtained handguns) are used in the VAST MAJORITY of crimes which is why gun laws, already on the books, need to be RIGIDLY ENFORCED, and not ignored as many DA's do.
