Radically flawed analysis.
Pitting minimum earners against average rents. Of course the earners come up short.
How about minimum earners against minimum rents?
Why does a single person need a two bedroom apartment? How about a studio? Or a one-bedroom with a single partner (i.e. marriage). I would bet both of those situations come out with a lot more favorable math.
And before anyone starts with the "you shouldn't have to get married for financial reasons" crap... Marriage has historically been just as much about finance as love - usually MORE so. If you don't like that option, fine - stay in your studio or get the skills for a better job or promotion.
