Looks like Turkey really needs an organized approach to disaster relief - and tools, equipment - a large sized military approach to dealing with the rubble and trying to find survivors.
This is 1/2 hour - another dutchsinse video - from two days ago - however it is current in that he does a good job of at least mentioning the associated geology/geophysics that is understood.
Have mentioned previously this guy is more or less maligned by those in the field. Don't know if it is because he is not as credentialled - but that could do it.
He seems to have happened upon a way to predict EQ in advance - seemingly more often on target than not. So, he must be doing something right, especially when it seems to result in the enmity of folks in the field. Even so I remain comfortable staying on the fence. Although, I too have noticed that USGS is selective about not reporting some EQ it posts, at least not in a timely way. . . and always wonder why.
There are questions about whether or not something like H.A.R.P. could be used to cause EQ. No doubt many nations have the capability. Finland has something similar however it uses microwaves.
The fault systems in the area are well known - and it is a plate boundary. Plus Africa has been plowing northward since before our species existed. However, it could be possible for the nefarious to aggravate the fault system especially at plate boundaries and set off an EQ.
Like he mentions - a conclusion some have already drawn - nations Turkey is in a feud might be suspect. Russia is ordinarily always available to assist Turkey . . . since Russia likes to keep access to Mediterranean, up near Finland being European Russia's other outlet Of course it's currently complicated given the Ukraine focus of Russia.
And of course with the enmity from those in the field directed at him, those folks at government level might prefer to try to connect it to some type of nefarious political intention. He wants to warn folks in advance, so the folks in the field seem to want to treat him like a psychic, instead of trying to use the way he makes his predictions and try to recreate the same amount of success, themselves (which is how science works).
In any event he does an interesting job of interconnecting EQs worldwide in this video too although it seems to attract professional jealousy<sigh>.
