Honoring Gunnery Sergeant Bryce F. Lockwood, USMC (Ret.), USS Liberty Survivor

Gunnery Sergeant Lockwood was born December 19, 1939 on a farm in Nineveh Junction, NY. He was raised in Afton, NY and graduated from Afton High School in 1957. He joined the Marine Corps in April 1959, attended Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC, and completed Infantry Training at Camp Geiger, NC. After Communications Technician Training in Imperial Beach, CA in May, 1969, GySgt Lockwood was assigned to 2nd Composite Radio Company, Camp Geiger, NC.

Following completion of the Russian Language Course at U.S. Army Language School, Monterey, CA, in March 1962, GySgt Lockwood reported to 2nd Comp. Radio Company, Camp Geiger, NC. He was assigned to Radio Traffic Analysis School, Fort Devens, MA, until December 1962.
