Back in the 1980's A classic song was published with singers, Ms. Patti LaBelle and Mr. Michael McDonald that would rock the world of music... The title of this classic song is "On My Own"!!! The song was co-written by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager.
"Originally recorded by Dionne Warwick for her 1985 album, Friends, “On My Own” was turned into a duet for Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald. Released on LaBelle’s eighth album, Winner in You, “On My Own” went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 within three weeks and became the most successful single for both artists. The video for the R&B ballad featured LaBelle and McDonald on opposite coasts singing about getting a divorce, even though they weren’t married." - American Songwriter
It doesn't really matter how old you were then or now, the song's meaning has been written for the ages. Two people who were in love but parted, but they each hold on to the memories of their time together (never married but talk of divorce) and are now alone...
