TikTok has become a dominant force in pop culture in recent years, which has prompted growing concerns from government officials over its Chinese ownership.
At least 14 states have recently banned the application from being used on government devices; some state-run public universities followed suit, banning or blocking the app on their campuses.
Last week, a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio, announced legislation that would ban TikTok in the United States. Rubio, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, claimed that TikTok's Chinese parent company, Byte Dance, cannot be trusted with access to United States' user data because of the potential national security risk.

Every single app one uses harvests data, every single cellphone manufacture harvests your data. Depending on how valuable ones data Is, it could be sold on the dark web. Use a Mobil pay app such as Venmo,cashapp, apple pay, google pay, ect there goes access to your digital banking door. With how everything is digitally connected someone harvests your data. It's the very reason why one can talk about a specific item they want and it pops up on your device. Have a nest, or Alexa and Amazon or Google have access to your house. Have a smart house theirs more portals to more aspects of your life. For all you old heads reading, you may not partake in these things but I'm sure most under 35 do. Be it the Chinese government or us government, does it make a difference? Big brother is always watching and listening.
