Agree/Disagree - There is such a thing as "Hate Speech". In fact, Black’s Law Dictionary defines it as, “Speech that carries no meaning other than the expression of hatred for some group, such as a particular race, esp. in circumstances in which the communication is likely to provoke violence.” Key points - Expression of hate / for a group / likely to provoke violence.

The issue is that while that definition is narrow in scope, many want to expand it to include what you said - "speech we hate". However, no matter how much you dislike what is being said, hate speech is NOT illegal .. well, as long as it is not illegal (how's that for double-speak). What I mean, is as long as it doesn't cross the line to illegal (such as incite imminent lawless action, etc)

Listening to some of the more fringe partisans on this site and others, I would say there is a lot of "speech I hate", but very little enters the realm of "hate speech" (mainly because it isn't likely to provoke violence).

Thank you Sir,
It is fascinating to me that the people who scream the most about "hate speech" are usually those who produce the most.
