I HOPE THEY STRIKE...I am usually against Unions but I have met a young man recently who works for a railroad company and the way he is treated...I am glad they are union. That is a bonafide need for a union IMHO.

I feel if rail workers get better pay and benefits it will attract people to the industry. Way to many people look to college as a viable path (yes college does help when it comes to income) but not everyone does well in college. Some 30% drop-out after racking up student loans. Trades offer great opportunities to those willing to work.

SPC David S. - My wife and I started watching a tv series on Paramount streaming called the Tulsa King. It has Sylvester Stallone in it where he is a gangster banished from New York and sent to tulsa to set up operations. Anyway, there was a kid on there last night saying college wasn't for him and it doesn't do any good anyway. He replied something to the effect college isn't about the books, and learning a specific set of knowledge...it is a four year job interview for a potential employer that shows you showed up on time, started and completed tasks as given, and that you could stay till the finish wihtout quitting...once you graduate and get hired they will teach you what you need to know for the job. that is why college is important.

I agree with the trades but if they keep abusing these railroad workers like they are currently doing a lot of them are going to walk and they won't be able to hire new ones from the word of mouth.
