I don't think so Gary, diff. situation this time, the Mid-West isn't dried out like it was back then. And they have irrigation now. This is a lack of rain in the watershed to keep the Rivers flowing deep enough for trade. The rains and snow melt will come.

SPC Bill Bailey - They are saying here that if we don't get a good soaking rain before the next hard freeze we might be in trouble. Then if we don't get a above normal amount of snow this winter, we'll be in trouble, since we're still in a drought.

We're in a drought here too (So. ID), have been for years. None of the reservoirs have been anywhere near full for quit some time, but we manage to get the crops planted and harvested every year. Good ground and river water management get us by. This is ALL high desert with little natural water, but we have the Snake River and several man made reservoirs plus a good ground water supply (for now). We also NEED a lot of good soaking rain and lots of Mtn. snow to build up the snow pack for river run off. Snow here in the valley is just a PITA. Some ground water, but a mess for the most part.

SPC Bill Bailey - There is one river we go over when I take HH6 to the hospital, on "normal" years it's up within a few feet of the bridge, this year you can see many of the sand bars. If it gets any lower I'd be able to run my Jeep up & down the river and hardly get the tires wet. When we moved in 17 years ago, I could power wash the house a time or two a year. I haven't been able to in 5-6 years now.
