Chuck Yeager came by to see a Navy fighter plane that was all dirty from its combat tour. He didn't care, he said he was happy to see the only true combat aircraft at the Edwards Air Force Base Air Show.

RIP Chuck Yeager!
If anyone sees the book Yeager by Brigadier Chuck yeager, it's a worthy read. I have the book and I've read the book twice.

I remember attending a brief where a MAW staff was given the reasoning behind the Corps not getting the F-14. While the procurement cost was a concern, the primary reason was the unit maintenance support requirements and the logistics tail.
