First, I want to say nations lose wars because of severe attrition to assets they need to continue waging war. Here are a couple examples. When Japan lost all her carriers in WWII that meant she could not defend her fleets nor attack ours without naval aviation. That meant we would own the air and the sea. When we killed most of the experienced German pilots in Europe that meant we would own the air which helped us in our ground war. Russia is running out of soldiers and munitions.
Why was the Russian military rated as #2 in the world? It's because the military analysts did not compare our precision weapons against their less precise weapons. There is a huge human aspect that was never considered:
- Russian soldiers are not well trained nor do they have decent experience.
- The lack of a decent NCO Corps makes them less agile.
- Centralized leadership makes them less agile and deters initiative.
- Unrealistic expectations of winning right away.
- The generals suck at operational planning like logistics.
This is not mentioned. The US Army V Corps HQs Forward is permanently based in Poland with the mission of countering Russian influence in the East Europe area of operations. I cannot imagine that a 3 Star JTF Commander with a 600+ staff just reads emails. Supporting Ukraine is complex. For example the Ukrainian military has to give statuses on munitions from the field. We would have to have reach back to the US to deliver the munitions to the Ukrainians. Here is what V Corps brings to the table:
- Logistics.
- Equipping and training the Ukrainians.
- Intelligence.
- Planning operations.
- Coordinating with other Western countries.
We are fighting the Russians with Ukrainian blood.
