Wars are won by attrition. Russia is losing soldiers left and right. They are starting to remind me of the Germans sending old men and young teens at us in WWII.

Sustaining a modern war has not been done since maybe Iran-Iraq.... no one has had to do it since then at such a high rate of casualties.

LTC Eric Udouj - I had to leave a blog thread on the war because I used military history to explain current events. They thought I was trying to steal the show and derail the thread. For example, I wrote about Stalingrad and how hard it is to conquer a large city. They saw no value in it and bitched. F@ck them!

MAJ Ken Landgren - Which city was harder to take is never a question anyone wants to go into. I think Shanghai was - but Soviet narrative drove the piece of Stalingrad being such. With the losses they took at Leningrad - understand why they did not want to focus on it - it bled them and the Germans dry. The Chinese had 8 German armed and trained divisions - plus all these lesser trained units - and Shanghai turned into a bloodbath for the Japanese. It was one of the toughest fights they may have fought. But it ate up both armies. Mosul destroyed the offensive power of IS - but also that of the Iraqi Army. Such are city fights.

LTC Eric Udouj - Very nice military history. I laugh at the Russians as they tried to attack Kyiv with tanks in a column. The Russians replicated the Battle of the Bulge by running out of fuel near Kyiv lol.
