It is too bad that racism kept African Americans out of the Marine Corps for a long time. Even though they were allowed in early 1942, I'm sure there was discrimination until the due segregation of the military by president Truman In the late 1940s

LTC (Join to see) There was obviously segregation since the African Americans had their own boot camp at Montford Point, Camp Lejeune, NC for quite a while before integrating into the other two boot camps the Corps had.
