Where exactly is Mount Diablo State Park? I've wondered about this place for a few days, mostly for the name "Diablo." "Diablo" in Spanish means devil. Fascinating to me, absolutely fascinating. I was wondering how long the hike to this fascinating destination hilltop actually takes a reasonably healthy and active exerciser in the fall in the beautiful and wonderful west coast state of California. Why did the founder's of California name the mountain Devil? Will we ever know the answer to this question? I cannot say because I am not willing to actually conduct meaningful research into the matter.
I did look it up yesterday because I was curious to see whether Mount Diablo had a view of the Sacramento Delta. I could not tell with the topographical map I viewed whether this water could be seen from Diablo. I noticed on the north east side of Mount Devil the cities of Pittsburgh, Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood sat on the river delta. I never knew, growing up in a nearby valley how close Mount Devil stood to Sacramento. Does this mean that Mount Diablo is the reason for all of California's woes? Nay, I say.
For those that do not know and that are interested in hiking this spectacular landmark of the East Bay in California, I posted the link. I love the area and think often about visiting again.
