"No, not [charges] to the victim of the rape or incest," Taylor clarified. "To the person who committed it."
"If they're lying and someone can prove that they're lying then there are repercussions," Glick remarked, referring to charges for the person seeking an abortion.
"But this doesn't lend itself to reporting to an authority that this person has been raped or victim of incest," Taylor explained. "There's nothing that requires the person to report this. And I'm asking why there is not that consideration in this amendment?"
"It's not required under this," Glick replied. "If you want to amend the amendment, I guess that's up to you."
The committee passed Glick's amendment by a 7-5 vote. The accompanying bill banning nearly all abortions was also later passed by the committee by another 7-5 vote.
I just...I don't know anymore what to say or do. I really fear for my daughter's future and my own until I no longer have a uterus.

It's pretty clear what Republicans want to happen...criminalize abortion and you turn women into felons. Felons can't vote.
Also - why are we allowing Christianity to have any part in our legislative process? We don't live in a theocracy. There are multiple religions practice in this country and many religions actually place the life of the mother/pregnant person over that of the fetus. So I'm ready for lawsuits to be filed by people who follow those religions for their 1A rights being violated with these laws.

I'm not implying anything. Also someone only can be convicted of rape if they are charged with rape. So if they don't charge rapists for the SA - then they won't be held accountable. The focus seems to be on punishing victims of rape who want to abort a pregnancy that resulted from the worst moment of their life.
Here's the issue at hand: this bill is requiring a victim of rape who wants an abortion to sign an affidavit that they were raped TO GET the abortion. There's no guarantee that it gets reported to authorities or that anyone gets charged.
Also it was amended that it restricts the rape and incest exceptions to 8 weeks for 16 an older and 12 weeks for those under 16. That's an even bigger issue because someone could get raped, get pregnant and not know they're pregnant for a few months. Especially a child who starts menstruating young - their menstrual cycles take time to become regular.
It's weird THAT is what you took issue with though. But this bill doesn't require anyone to report if a pregnant person reports they are pregnant due to rape. But they want to try to turn the victim into a criminal.
