This is not the most comprehensive, as it intentionally omits a large portion of mass shootings.

Well if your agenda is paint the story that deaths resulting from criminal actions are mass shootings go right ahead. For most common sensed Americans people know what a mass shooting is referencing.

murders are not attributable to any other underlying criminal activity or commonplace circumstance (armed robbery, criminal competition, insurance fraud, argument, or romantic triangle).”

SSG (Join to see) My agenda is to look at the whole of the problem. The specialized category for "mass shootings" - which political statisticians (lies, damn lies, and statistics) get to define however they want - is "painting the story."

Here is a comprehensive database that looks at ALL mass shootings, not just the ones that are politically convenient.

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting

Saying that 8 wounded and 2 dead don't count because the shooter had bad aim is silly. Saying that 5 dead are somehow LESS dead because it was gang activity and not racism is also silly. (And what if it was a racist gang? Does that count now?)

SFC Casey O'Mally - that is a database of gun violence. As stated in the link that I provided there is no clear cut definition of a "mass shooting." Running into a school and shooting little kids is a bit different from individuals killed in the crossfire of a shootout. By the FBI definition many of the shootings noted on that site aren't considered mass shootings but others may consider it a mass shooting. The bottom line is there are way too many shootings in this country.

SSG (Join to see) It is titled gun violence archive, but they chronicle specifically mass shootings. They *still* have a minimum threshold of 4 casualties. But they do not exclude criminal activity and they do not ignore wounded. The difference between 4 dead and 1 wounded and 1 dead and 4 wounded is aim. They do not ignore shooters who had bad aim (or didn't aim).

And yes, there are too many shootings. I absolutely agree.
