In my opinion, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, we do need some form of consistency about the criminal side of gun control versus what the Politicians from both political parties seem to dance around all the time... I believe that Law and Order is the "KEY" to gun control... Law abiding citizens don't jeopardize others, but criminals do not fear the law or law enforcement and typically pay no attention to the laws on the books... Typically (imho) criminals get their guns on the so-called black market and file down or remove the serial numbers of the weapons that they use so they cannot be tracked... Having said this, if the politicians create new law chipping away small pieces of the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution in order to cripple the purchase and use of firearms by law abiding citizens, then the criminals have the edge and the law abiding citizens are at constant risk from them...

Sgt (Join to see) That's precisely the point. The very first federal chip at the 2nd Amendment was in 1934. Miller v US. It restricted possession of automatic weapons. We must have legislation that truly penalizes those who use firearms in the commission of a crime by making it punishable time that cannot be used as a bargaining chit. Make it mandatory, must serve with no time off for any reason.

There was an incident a few years back. A town with three movie theaters, and one had signs posted that weapons were not allowed inside. A cowardly criminal with an illegal gun entered and wounded and killed several people. This in a town where open carry is allowed. He chose that theater be cause it was less a deterrent than the other theaters. More gun laws and restrictions will NOT make things better.

You are absolutely spot-on MSG Roy Cheever!!! Legislation should be geared to criminals or criminal intent, with heavy penalties! Not geared toward law abiding citizens!!!
