Believe you have a typo, "they did not experience lower death rates as a result of increased compensation." The key to less hospitalization and a lower death rate is compliance. Follow the recommendations of the Physician and take medications consistent with the directions and you have better outcomes. I have a friend who decided the regular testing he had to under go for the medication he was taking was an annoyance. He decided to stop taking it and ended up in the hospital. He had developed blood clots in his lungs as a result. After review of his alternatives, he has decided he needs to take the medication he was originally prescribed.

Sounds like Coumadin. I can understand people that do not want to spend so much time in the drs office as they grow old. I had two appointments on Tuesday and that is more than enough.

Humans by design are up right animals and the more we are up and active the better our health is. Money to get out of the rocker and live is money well spent with our elders.
