When Biden stopped the Key Stone Pipeline, started canceling oil & gas leases, and pushed the "Green New Deal" he set up the conditions for gas shortages and price increases. He has started to drastically dip into the strategic reserves. You only have to look at the states where gas is over $10 a gallon to see that "government" is the reason for gas gouging with California leading where close to 50% of gas dollar is taxes.

LTC Thomas Tennant you do realize the green new deal never made it into policy right? You do realize the only help the renewable sector is getting is whatever is placed in the infrastructure deal. You do realize not many people wanted that pipeline be it some Canadians, Native Americans, and some Americans? That pipeline cut through reservations and the companies didn't care one bit. You do realize that pipeline would have made it easier for more countries to import Canadian oil and not American ? Gas is up because refineries can't keep up. It has nothing to do with the price of crude oil. An if gas does go up higher it will be because of the hurricane season that goes through the gulf that causes refiners to shutdown. I'd like to add even if the government suspended the gas tax and so did the states, they will add additional taxes somewhere else to make up for the lost revenue one way or another. Instead of blaming big government you should also consider how much possible price gauging is going on so companies can finally give a return on investment to their shareholders. In the end no one cares about the little guy or the veteran, be it the company or the government. Either way someone will always railroad us.
