Seattle police fail to take timely sexual assault reports at Harborview.

No one should depend on the police (anyone can be a victim of sexual assault). In my experience with police as a DV survivor - they are my ultimate last resort to call. Oh and my DV happened several years ago and they still failed so stop with this "this is what you get when you defund the police." The police have NEVER protected anyone. Ever. They have always been bad at taking sexual assault reports. They have always been bad at taking DV reports (especially when most police are DV abusers themselves). There are multiple stations across the country with boxes of untested rape kits.

This has always been a problem. It's not a "defund the police" issue (which police departments haven't been defunded at all). It's a cops have no legal obligation to protect individuals problem. It's a cops don't care problem. They don't. They do bare minimum when it comes to SA or DV. Facts. I've experienced it personally. I've seen it as a SARC dealing with civilian cops. They don't care.
