China wants to dominate the Indo-Pacific region and make the U.S. and its allies irrelevant here. On the other hand, contrary to Putin's claims, Russia has taken its initial step to try and dominate over U.S. and its allies in Europe. Putin miscalculated the Ukraine affair of a prolonged war and western interference. Will Russia attempt to wrestle another sovereign nation following the devastation of Ukraine? Recreation of the Russian Empire might be a chapter in Putin's script of achievements, just as Xi is attempting to do in the east.
