The good in this if there is any to be found is that SBC took this on themselves when allegations arose and hired an independent task force to investigate. No church of any kind is exempt from predators. They comein all walks, shapes, forms, fashion, of people and clergy are not exempt. They are human just like the rest of us. No one is exempt from sin but thankfully we have a God that is faithful and just to forgive us of those sins when we acknowledge them as sin and turn from them. Those that allegations are founded to be true, I hope they find them and put them behind bars and hold them accountable on earth and put measures in place to prevent this type of stuff. Our church we attend has policies in place that no one is alone with a child by themselves, always a two person concept and all the staff, deacons, child care workers, volunteers, sunday school teachers etc are required to have a full background check and take sexual abuse training courses paid for by the church. Plus as an added bonus the Sexual Abuse training is open to all members of the church should they want it. Positive steps to eliminate this horrific issue.
