This was what 1440 sent out in an e-mail today, they are a non partisan news source. ""Child Vaccine Data
A COVID-19 vaccine regimen developed by Pfizer and partner BioNTech demonstrated 80% efficacy against symptomatic infections in children aged 6 months to 4 years, the companies announced yesterday. Children under 5 years old represent the last major age group without access to a vaccine against the coronavirus in the US.
The data relied on a three-dose regimen, with each dose one-tenth the amount of those administered to adults. Previous data from Moderna, which used a two-dose regimen, showed around 50% efficacy in children aged 6 months to 2 years and 37% efficacy from 2 to 6 years old.
Following the news, federal health officials said they would convene an outside expert panel to review the data from June 14-15, the next step toward emergency use authorization for young children. The age group represents about 6% of the US population, or around 20 million children."
80% effective, compared to 37% for Moderna? No way I would risk giving my young child a vaccine with 37% effective results. Not sure how it even got approved because from what I understood they are supposed to be at least 65%, or that's what they said when they we in development.
I am not anti vax, have my first 3 Pfizer shots, waiting for the 4th to be approved by my doctor. But something is wrong if they let a vaccine out for young kids that's only 37% effective.
