Politically, no matter what he does, having it for illegal aliens makes it worse.

In the court of public opinion, Democrats have nowhere to run on this issue. Notice of Stacy Abrams didn't want President Biden to help her in the primary, President Biden is Kryptonite to Democrats who want to maintain their seats in Congress.

The babylonbee is right up there with duffleblog for good satire.
The FDA shut down the Abbott Lab facility that makes 50% of the baby formula for the USA.
There were some illnesses, and the FDA shutdown should have raised awareness and at least monitoring by the government out of concern for supply.
SFC Thomas Foreman So when the US government is the cause of the shortage, due to the shutdown, the US government owns the shortage until production is ramped back up.

SFC Thomas Foreman - Exactly, the FDA is justified with the shutdown. If I were the parent of a child impacted, you bet I would want it shut down and recalled. Abbott Labs owns most of this issue. The FDA and President should not act surprised when it is brought up as an issue.

LTC John Shaw I think we might be heading in the wrong direction here due to lack of context.

My original comment was *also* satire

SFC Thomas Foreman that is sad that children died. They shouldn't put red tape. They should accept formula from the European Union or Canada or Mexico because you know it would have been compatible and the kids wouldn't have gotten sick.
One thing I want to point out is that Bernie Sanders was correct to say that coming up to Canada if you could save 90% on the price of insulin. The quality control is the same so the US government can't lie and say that Canada's insulin is not compatible with Americans.

SFC Thomas Foreman - My bad, I didn't get your satire level. ~
We do have a significant problem with affordable medicine. Many people depend on life saving medication and most countries have no problem negotiating a bulk rate / price control. The US is paying for 40% of all medication $$$, we also have the right to negotiate how much we pay. It is weird that our VA negotiates a reduced price, but Medicare and Medicaid and each state end up competing for the same limited supply.
