PO1 Kevin Dougherty
I loved listening to Gene Shepherd growing up. I got to hear him once in a while on WOR when I was young, usually because I snuck partway down the stairs after my dad fell asleep. When I was a preteen/teen, he started letting me stay up and we would listen to him together. Great stories and great memories. He was on 10pm-11pm if I remember right.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty - My Dad got me that book for Christmas way back in the day. Listened to Shep M-F on WOR during that time slot and on Saturday’s for his extended show at the Limelight. There = a number of sites on the web that have archived many of his shows that can be listened to. Also a good number on YouTube. And his literary hoax = classic!

The Bestseller Book That Didn't Exist: how the author of a beloved Christmas classic pulled off...
You know Jean Shepherd as author of the beloved A Christmas Story. But before that, he conspired to get a book that didn't exist onto The New York Times Best Seller List. Read how he pulled off the Hoax of the Century.
