Oh my. Someone wrote their opinion on the sidewalk with chalk. The horror of it all.

Although I agree with you that this is sidewalk chalk and it will wash away, it is things like this that snowball into bigger things if a police presence isn't there. My daughter played with chalk when she was little on the sidewalks and driveway but it was pictures and stick figures, not political statements.
First it is chalk, then it is picketed protests blocking traffic then it goes further where she can't leave her home and do her job because of the crowds. It is a slippery slope and by her calling the cops I think it was the right move and not a Karen move. She is a sitting member of the US Senate and anything like this needs to be reported so they can monitor and document in case it goes any further. Were the words derogatory or defaming in nature...no but it can still be considered harassment.

I see you support this type of behavior and I suppose you also support the protests outside of the SCOTUS' residence. <sigh/>

SSgt (Join to see) - If exercising free speech is a "leftist position", then I will wear that badge.

Defense lawyers will have a field day with the phrase "in or near any such building or residence".

LTC Kevin B. - I understand. I guess it is ok for me to openly carry my S&W 9mm in all 50 states without a permit as it IS my 2nd Amendment Right. As long as I don't threaten anyone with it or have hate speech written on the holster.

"Although the First Amendment limits the government’s ability to regulate speech in public forums, it does not guarantee a right to express oneself “at all times and places or in any manner that may be desired.” Long-established First Amendment principles permit the government to act in ways that burden expressive freedoms if it can demonstrate an adequate justification for doing so. Public safety is a legitimate and compelling governmental interest that can justify certain restrictions on speech and assembly."

I find it interesting that you, a trusted admin on this site, are a proponent for actively ignoring the laws and policies of all levels of government.

LTC Kevin B. - As long as it was a legal and recorded protest...I read the other day that it was not and the police decided not to enforce but I cannot find that source again...sorry...
