(Made up numbers) - there were 10,000 people at Cochela. Before the event started, 4 tested positive for Covid. After the event 7 tested positive. 7/4*100 = 175% jump in cases! Be mindful of what percentages you put an emphasis on.
For example, the rate went up to 202 per day. Out of 750,000. A 0.026933% chance of "catching it".
Obviously the emphasis here is still on PANIC!

PS: A 139% increase that lands you at 202 a day means before the event of 750,000 people kicked off it was at 145 plus change each day. A 0.019333% chance of "catching it". A net raise of 0.008%. But a headline of "Your chance to catch Covid went up 0.008% during the 2 weeks of Coachella! Please panic now!!!" does not work the same.
