Just think these ships were around over 45 years ago. Here is a scene from the movie Final Countdown which came out in August of 1980 but was probably filmed in 1979 are in one piece. This movie predates Top Gun by 6 years.

I was just talking with someone the other day about this movie and the advances in technology with regard "time travel", and it's affect on history. I know it's only a movie, and I really liked it, but could you imagine our world today, if the NIMITZ had gone back in time, and single handedly stopped the attack against Pearl Harbor?

CPO David R. D. I just don't know why they couldn't have launched all their Phoenix missiles at long range because they would have destroyed probably a third of the Japanese Squadron and it may have actually made them think that there was no element of surprise. Just my two cents chief

LTC (Join to see) - Why go after the aircraft? They could have launched the majority of their aircraft and sank all four Japanese carriers on that day. Battle of
Midway would have never needed to happen.
