Almost the same thing I heard from convicts in the prison I worked. They were proud to be third generation felons living in prison, that was their badge honor. Go figure.

In days gone by some people got a choice of jail or the Army for some offenses. Those 3rd gen guys would probably have chosen prison. Very sad, isn't it.

SGT Mary G. yes very sad. As a unit manager with 21 years experience I can safely say as part of my duties I've interviewed over 15,000+ felons. Part of my questionnaire (even though I already knew the answer) was are you the first in the family to go to prison. Over half of those interviews, they stated no second or third generation felon.
