General Patton’s Warning

My mother, my Father and an uncle were in Europe when Patton started this. It was not popular among the troops. Russia was our ally. American troops had been at war a long time. Soldiers had marched through the death camps. The American soldiers had been encouraged to take pictures of the NAZI death camps because as Eisenhower said “ in years to come people will deny the German final solution happened”. Not only were Jews killed tortured etc but 6 million other undesirables were tortured and killed etc. Military commanders forced government officials from German towns to march through the German death camps. My mom, as Nurse, took care of some Jewish survivors. News reels of the atrocities were displayed on news reels in movie house’s across America and news papers carried stories about the German inhumanity. Patton not only wanted to use US soldiers Patton wanted to re arm the German military. This was more than most Americans could stomach.
