I agree with this. Been going on a lot long than 2020 election. You can see bits of this as far back as early 1800's. But has been coming more overtly since 1960's. During Vietnam war to shape opinions about the war. Emboldened the press to go even further. And the internet has sped it up more as the race to get the story out first is harder.
