If I were the employer, I would find a way to fire this guy ASAP.

Not because of religion or lack thereof. Because of dishonesty and fraud. If you will purposefully, and with intent to defraud, lie to my face during an interview, then what will you do once you have the job?

No thank you.

I think you have determined the crux of the matter. This is a person I would never be able to trust, as an employer.

Capt Gregory Prickett Sir,

I cannot say I have ever been discriminated against for my religion. But I also keep my religion to myself and my friends.

And I have attended seminars based in religions other than my own. Didn't feel discriminatedagainst; just took what I could and moved on.

I have also never applied for a job within a religious organization - mostly because I would not be comfortable serving to further someone else's dogma.

I do honestly understand what you are saying. I am not saying your experience was right or proper - especially considering it was (presumedly) a government organization. But I think there is a difference between what you describe and what this article describes.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I got sidetracked by my own thoughts.

What I started trying to say was that, because I cannot honestly say I have been discriminated against for my religion, I cannot speak from experience. But I would still have to say that if you have to lie about who you are to GET the job, then chances are good the job is not a good fit for you. I won't be applying for a job as a phlebotomist, ever. Not only am I not qualified, sticking people makes me queasy. I can get stuck all day, e'erday. But sticking others is a hard pass. So even if the job paid $100/hr, I would not apply, because who I am as a person is fundamentally unsuited for the position. Same for working at an abortion clinic - even if only in a clerical role. My religion says that's a no-no, so I wouldn't lie to get that job. No matter the benefits, opportunities, or pay.
