The Republican Party doesn't only have a Donald Trump problem. It also has a Vladimir Putin problem.
As the GOP tries to politically weaponize the Ukraine conflict to question President Joe Biden's leadership, it also spotlights the party's craven hypocrisy around its inability to take on Trump for his troublesome record with Russia and ongoing affinity for Putin. This is not only a political vulnerability for Republicans, but it's also a moral failing.

Personally I think Ukraine currently is one in Biden's favor. His enhanced relationship with NATO seems to be very smart right now. Not that I think Biden's response is perfect, it isn't. Biden is competent but not a master at his job.
On the other side, the Republicans definitely have been cozying up to foreign personalities they shouldn't. It goes back to if the future of the party is Trumpism or conservatism. As long as the former holds sway, we will be occasionally cozying up to more strongmen and dictators than many of us are comfortable with.
