It's 9:15 a.m. and Bryan Stern is waiting outside a Kyiv hospital. The sound of shelling in the distance forces him and his team to hurry. They need to get two premature babies into an ambulance and out of the besieged Ukrainian capital.
This is Operation Gemini, named for the American twins he has been tasked with evacuating.

I've wondered, recently if my sister might have been born in Russia (USSR). Probably not, but it would not be impossible. The family adopted both my sister and brother as infants (a year apart) - closed adoptions nearly 50 years ago through a physician. Little information was provided about the biological parents - health and ethnicity mostly. She was born healthy but it was 10 days before she could be brought home from the hospital - our brother after five days. She is Italian French and Russian. It never occurred to me that she may not have been born in U.S. Don't know if the folks would have known either.
