SPC Kevin Ford - Any comments on my last paragraph about those still languishing in jail?

Sgt (Join to see) - There is a right to a speedy trial in the country. Having said that, I don't know the exact reason why the system seems to be backed up. In the back of my mind I suspect some if it may have to do with the Pandemic.

Sgt (Join to see) - I found this that talks about the challenges to federal (and state I expect) criminal trials.

I'd be amazed if defense attorneys are not filing motions to dismiss based on some fo the backups. Weather they will be successful is a different question.

SPC Kevin Ford - A pandemic doesn't override your right to a speedy trial. Again, not knowing the facts, the defendants could have waived that. I know that in our local courts, that was almost always the first thing the judge had people sign. Usually with the judge blowing through what it was they were signing, 99.9% of people signed it.
