From what I have read, the Army is returning to the cold war era air, land battle, gearing up for a European theatre battle as opposed to the urban conflict model as described in the article.

SPC Michael Terrell - The Air Land Battle was more of a force on force battle, imagine tank battalions employed as opposed to the asemantic warfare we have been engaged in for the last 20 years. The doctrine was easily employed in any theatre where we would face near peer competition.

While it is inspiring to hear that we will as a Nation refocus our training toward emerging threats, I believe that we should continually do so. Without digging too deep, every time the US takes its eye off from the global threats to focus solely on the threat in front of us we end up behind the curve.

T&D, along with R&D tied to the existing think tanks is the way to go. We can build a permanent opposition to the existing OPFOR, FFOR (Future Force) whose job it would be to test new equipment and review doctoring for war fighting against the greater threat. We already have many of the required components, it would require a renewed commitment yo the military, not continual budget cuts and restraints. Stop thinking that because we are the US we are the best. Only with Money, Time, and Training can we be the dominant force on the planet. This is not war mongering, it is a reality.
