The period between getting the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and the first booster shot has been shortened to five months from six for people ages 18 and up, the Food and Drug Administration says.
The FDA's announcement Friday comes as the highly contagious omicron variant is spreading rapidly around the country and immunity from the first round of vaccines is fading. Over the weekend, more than 1 million people in the U.S. were diagnosed with COVID-19.

The basic problem with the booster is it has not been reformulated to the more current strains, thus the reason you can still get and spread Omicrin if boosted. I will not take a 4th shot until the vaccine has been updated.

The booster is the third shot. The vaccine was never meant to keep you from getting the virus but to reduce the level of sickness if you do catch it which this vaccine has done very well.
Folks need to remember that this virus is new to humans. Those studying and developing vaccines are trying to catch up with the virus which is an impossible task given a host population of 7-8 billion people and the fact its jumped to other mammals is down right scary. A wrong turn on this viruses evolutionary path and humans could be wiped out.
