Thank God we have federalism instead of some uniform application of totalitarian governance form Washington, D.C. We're fortunate to have 50 states to choose from... choose wisely!

Indeed! I pass lottery billboard daily and think about how I could live it up on a small fraction of what's on the board.

I find that hard to believe that California one of the highest tax rates in the country is not going to get their share of those winning, hell you can't win a prize on a game show in California without paying the sales tax or income tax if it is cash first. But either way their is still a lot of money on the table so I am not going to cry for either winner having to pay some taxes.

LTC Eugene Chu I have only spent about $10.00 on lottery tickets since they legalized it in Tennessee. The reason? Your chance of cashing winning anything is so small it isn't worth the $2.00investment. When the pot gets to at least $500 million bucks I MIGHT buy a ticket. It kills me when I see people spending $50.00! Many times it's the ones who can least afford it that spend the most.
The subject of this post is about taxes though so onto that subject. Simple solution, since they have the money now, but a house or rent an apartment in a state with no state income tax like Tennessee! They will be millions ahead.
