Good Wednesday Morning from the deteriorating weather here in the Greater Boston Area... Yesterday we had a sunny reprieve from the cold, cloudy, rainy and otherwise dismal weather we have had for the last two weeks... However, that aside, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is doing quite well in that the "Secondary Mirror Support Structure (SMSS) is moving, or has moved, into its operational position! The secondary mirror plays an important role in reflecting the light from the primary mirror to where the instruments sig, behind the primary mirror."
The JWST has now completed 65.96% of its trek to the L2 Lagrange Point and continues to slow down little by little... The JWST is now 592,880 miles from Planet Earth and counting! Whew!!!
I will try to post a short piece on the Lagrangian Points if I can find something good...
