It is New Year's Day 2022 and we find ourselves following the birth of one of the most scientific human developments, in the form of the James Webb Space Telescope, or JWST for short... It was launched on December 25, 2021 and on this day (and moment I am writing this) it is 53.5245% of the way to Lagrange Point, L2, where the JWST will orbit for the term of its operation... It has traveled 481,055 miles and counting at this point 3:36 PM Eastern Time... It is now having its Sunshield tightening up its Insulation Layers to maximize its ability to cool the JWST.
This Video in conjunction with the live telemetry monitoring of JWST's progress shows part of what is going on from an animation sequence, but this video does more than just that... It provides the science behind what is going on now...
Here is the video description:
"NASA's James Webb Space Telescope is the most powerful telescope in the history of humanity, and one of the most ambitious engineering projects ever attempted. It will witness the birth of stars and galaxies at the edge of time and probe alien skies for signs of life. In this new documentary from Quanta, JWST’s lead scientists and engineers discuss what inspired the telescope, how it was built, the extraordinary challenges it will face upon launch, and its potential discoveries."
I believe that you will all find this a fascinating explanation which will enhance your understanding of the JWST...
