A Library of Congress exhibit walk-through.
"The exhibition 'A Thousand Years of the Persian Book' opened in March 2014 and ended in September 2014. Hirad Dinavari gives a guided tour showcasing the most exquisite Persian manuscripts, lithographs, early imprints and modern printed works in the Library's collections."
Persian books are renown for Illuminated Scripts which are works of art. Persian poety is renown - well known in the west often through Rumi and Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám.
While speaking of books the tour also demonstrates the historic fluidity of Persian culture throughout the larger historic region known as "Persia" for thousands of years until modern times, where varieties of Persian (not only Farsi but a variety of Indo-European languages within the Persian culture) have long been spoken in the region. Also demonstrated is the historic fluidity of cultures throughout the larger historic regions, of the historic Middle East and historic Central Asia - before the time of modern nations.

HMMM. So what about a Thousand Nights and a Night?? That's the actual name. Anyway I have trouble with a main character who doesn't ban an eye with killing over a 1,000 woman just to make sure they remain faithful. A culture that thinks this is good litaiture doesn't fit my idea of that.
