Berlin has long been associated with techno music. Now Dr Motte, a top DJ is trying to get Berlin's techno scene recognised by Unesco, the UN body responsible for protecting world culture and heritage.
Recognition would mean protection from and greater local lobbying power on building and tax laws.
"We need to safeguard the future of this culture," says Motte.

After leaving Berlin in 90 I was sent back to Ft Benning (3 years). I re-enlisted to go back to Berlin but it was in the chopping block by then. They reassigned me to Pirmasens but that too was on the chopping block so they sent me to Vilseck.
I was part of 409 th BSB when I got there and later was part of the team that closed Berlin and a year later Nuremberg. Sad days for me.
