I suspect the military academies who are rooted in tradition (the military in general, really) likely in many ways mirrors the America of 10-20 years ago. In some respects the military can be slow to change.
It's much better than it was 50 years ago, and it will be much better still 50 years from now. We are slowly but steadily confronting our past and trying to make the future better.
We'll most of us are anyway.
