Place a Geiger Counter near a Colman lantern wick. Before the 1990’s they were made of Thorium whose radioactivity is mostly emitted as alpha particles, which only travel a couple centimeters in air and can be stopped by a sheet of ordinary paper. We used this as a demonstration for new radiation workers. It’s my understanding, many elements on the periodic table have no restrictions unless they are a part of the nuclear fission process
