American Indians have produced some great patriots and servicemen over our history. Navajo Code Talkers being one of those groups.
I had the opportunity a few years ago to visit the Pima Indian Reservation near Phoenix, AZ. where Ira Hayes hailed from. I could not believe how many Marine Corps flags flew proudly outside so many homes on the reservation. There was a park that had a monument to Hayes as well. The cultural center had a section devoted to Hayes and the many other Pima Indians who have served over the years.
Semper fi to them all. Great examples for us all.

I was lucky enough to attend a Code Talker book signing right here in Tucson on Davis-Monthan AFB. Semper Fi to all of them.

I offer this as a reply to the loss of this WWII hero. RIP Brother. YOu may be physically gone but you are still with us.
"Native American Prayer"
I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still in each new dawn.

To a Marine, we stand with the Navajo Nation in the mourning of a loss of our brother. The Code Talkers were an integral part of our shared & steeped heritage. The streets of Heaven are secure. Bahe Ketchum, taps.
