There are a LOT of miss understanding, assumptions about Wisconsin law and what crimes Rittenhouse committed. I assumed Rittenhouse had violated Wisconsin gun laws by carrying a gun as a 17 year old. It appears he may not have violated Wisconsin gun laws. Looks like the prosecution screwed up in not entering the gun Rittenhouse carried and used into evidence, not measuring the weapon and not fully understanding Wisconsin gun laws.

I've been saying all along that I wasn't sure based on what I read about the law. But after each of the related sections of the law were cited and put into context, I absolutely agree with the Judge's decision. The spirit of the law was likely meant for underage hunters, but there is nothing specific which delineates between allowing them to have a long gun for personal protection or hunting. Regardless, the judge threw the charge out.
