I thought it was see something, say something. I guess you can only say something if you are 100% positive, or if the person you are saying something about is not part of any minority group. Because then, obviously the only reason you said something was because you are a bigot.

And before everyone starts, no I am not a fan of racial profiling, nor do I support suspecting people based on race (or being biracial). But the flight attendant saw suspicious activity and reported it, as she should.

The response at DIA was a bit over the top, but had it ACTUALLY BEEN human trafficking, probably would have been heralded as spot on.

And yes, human trafficking is a MAJOR problem in America. And yes, human trafficking FREQUENTLY passes through major transportation hubs, including airports. And yes, parents DO traffick their own children. And yes, one of the most common ploys in the commercial sexual exploitation of minors is posing as a parent.

I am not saying this was a good situation, nor am I saying everyone handled it in the best possible way. But I won't condemn anyone involved here, either.

While it’s unfortunate that this family was inconvenienced, especially during a time of grief, human trafficking is a big problem in the USA. I find it unlikely that the employee reported it just because a white woman had a non-white kid with her, that’s not an uncommon sight, so they’d be reporting probably dozens of families a day.

If the child was being trafficked and nobody said anything, I’m sure the narrative would be that nobody said anything because the kid wasn’t white. It seems there are no right answers in our increasingly racialized America.
