I enjoyed DZ Akins and their sandwiches when I was in San Diego way back in 2014.
One reason not mentioned in this article about Jewish delis closing is familial focus on educated work. Similar to Asian parents, Jewish parents would rather have their children go to advanced school to become white-collar doctors or lawyers than become restaurant owners.

Whitefish Salad! When I would go back up to Philly for a visit when my Mom was still alive we would go to Abe's Deli down the street (now gone and replaced by a Dunkin Donuts; big sigh) to get it. I now live down here in West Central FL (Tampa) and even with the massive numbers of Jews that live in the area you think you'd be able to find a Jewish Deli that has it but, alas, I'm SOL.
